Requirements:
1. A USB pendrive of at least 256mb.
2. Windows xp installation disc.
Steps:
1. Copy all the contents of your windows xp installtion cd on your hard disk to any folder and named it ‘winxp’.
2. Download the BartPe builder and install it to your system.
3. Run the BartPe buider, it first ask for searching the windows installing files click on yes. It’ll search automatically the folder ‘winxp’.

4.Now the screen will look something like this
5. In the media output section, make sure that the ‘none’ option remains selected.
6. Click on the ‘Build’ button . the following window pop up

click on the yes button. Then a license agreement window pop up click on the agree button.
7. The build process starts after it finishes click on the close button.
8. Exit the BartPe builder.
9. Insert your pen drive to your system and run HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool. Choose the Fat file system and quick format option give any volume name and now click on start button.
10. Now copy the listed files form the c:\ directory to the newly formatted pendrive.
· Boot.ini
· Ntdlr
· Ntdetect.com
These may not be visible, you first have to make them visible by
Tools->Folder option->View->Select show hiddens files and deselect the hide system files.
11. After copying these files restart your system and at the boot option select boot from usb options, if your system gives the error something like ‘hal.dll is not found’ then restart your system it implies that the pendrive has become bootable.
12. Now boot as regular, delete all the files from pendrive(do not format) then go to C:\pebuilder3110a\plugin\peinst find the file called ‘peinst.cmd’ ,run it .
13. There comes certain options select ‘1’ and give the path ‘C:\pebuilder3110a\BartPE’ (Note: you may have different BartPe version so the folder other than BartPe have different name, so don`t get confused).
14. Select ‘2’ give the path of your pen drive i.e. ‘j:’ (in my case).
15. Select ‘5’ and then select ‘1’, now the files starts copying into your usb disk, wait for 15 to 20 minutes til copying get finished.
16. That's all, now you can boot from your pendrive and have your xp in your pocket.
